Compare two choices

Rate two options against your priorities and see how changing those priorities affects the result.

Compare two options.

Compare preferences after ruling out options that fail a must-have. Scores run from 1 to 5; higher means a better fit. Starting values are fictional.

How the scores work & what to check

Use the score to discuss the tradeoff

Each score is multiplied by its share of the total weight, then the results are added. With quietness weighted 60% and commute 40%, the fictional examples both score 3.8. Switching those weights gives Space A 3.2 and Space B 4.2. A ranking that reverses shows a tradeoff to discuss, not a reason to add decimal places.

Keep must-haves outside the average

Remove options that fail a genuine requirement before using the worksheet. A high score on convenience should not average away a non-negotiable constraint. Define what each score means, mark uncertain evidence, and revisit the assumptions after the decision.
